WRANGLER CANADIAN PROFESSIONAL RODEO TOUR FINALS ACTION TONIGHT IN ARMSTRONG
September 1, 2010
The Interior Provincial Exhibition (IPE) and Stampede is set to host the championships for the Wrangler Canadian Professional Rodeo Tour.
Kicking off Sept. 1 in Armstrong, B.C., the Tour Finals will run for five days. Sixteen of the 20 qualifying contestants in each event competed at 10 Tour rodeos in during the 2010 season. The other four contestants qualified through the Last Chance Rodeo Tour, which is made up of the remaining regular season rodeos.
Divided into two pools, 10 contestants from each event will compete at two performances, with the top four money earners from each pool returning for the final performance on Sunday, Sept. 5
Money won at the Tour Finals counts towards the Canadian Standings qualifying for the Canadian Finals Rodeo (CFR) in Edmonton in November. As an added bonus, the top two in the six major events will be offered a bye to compete at the 2011 Calgary Stampede.
“It’s going to be really exciting. It’s going to move our already great rodeo to another level,” stated Bryan Burns, general manager for the IPE & Stampede in Armstrong, B.C.
With only four more rodeos left in the 2010 season before the CFR, competition will be fierce, as the Armstrong payday can make or break any contestants chances for CFR.
