FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Hell on Hooves going to the Geminis
SEASON 3 AROUND THE CORNER, WITH FIRST-EVER 3D RODEO FOOTAGE
October 28, 2010
(Saskatoon) – The production team of Canada’s favourite bull riding show heads to Toronto next week for the 25th Annual Gemini Awards Ceremony. Fans can also get excited about the upcoming season and an entire episode in 3D, never seen before in rodeo.
Hell on Hooves has been nominated for two 2010 Gemini Awards. It is one of five productions nominated for Best General/Human Interest Series and producer/writer Doug Hudema is nominated for Best Writing in an Information Program or Series for the episode ‘Innisfail’. Both awards will be presented at the Industry Gala on Tuesday, Nov. 2 in Toronto.
Following close behind the Geminis is the broadcast premiere of “Hell On Hooves 3D”, November 26 at 8:00pm EST on radX (formerly Rush HD). Saskatoon-based Juxtapose Productions teamed with DJ Woods Productions and made history this past summer at the Wrangler Pro Rodeo Tour stop in Strathmore, Alberta. The entire rodeo event was shot using 3D technology.
“This hasn’t been done before,” said Dennis Hrapchak, executive producer at Juxtapose. “We’re pushing the limits of what can be done in 3D, because most people who watch 3D at home see slow moving pretty pictures without too much action. We’re changing that!”
“Hell on Hooves is a terrific and popular series that will look even more fantastic in 3D,” said John Panikkar, Co-founder of radX. “Bull Riding is exciting enough in 2D and of course when you see it live – but 3D is a way to make it real for viewers like they’ve never seen before.”
Series Synopsis
Ever wonder what it takes to get on top of 1500 pounds of a mean-spirited bucking bull? Or why anyone would want to be a rodeo bull fighter? Few sports can compare to that of bull riding or bull fighting. The guys who ride and protect the riders are not just cowboys but are also professional athletes. Hell on Hooves takes an inside look at their lives… on the road and traveling the rodeo circuit. On the bull, or in front of it, these men put it all on the line, each and every rodeo.
