Dustin Flundra added another $1,532 in earnings to his 2014 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo campaign on Tuesday in round six inside the Thomas & Mack Center.
Flundra rode Final Feather Three Hills Rodeo for 76.5 to split sixth with 2014 Canadian Finals Rodeo RAM Top Gun Award winner, Cort Scheer. Now at $17,776 on the week, the Pincher Creek native sits inside a paying spot in the aggregate in 7th with 376 points on five horses. Heith DeMoss, Taos Muncy and Scheer sit from first to third in the world standings respectively, separated by a mere $735.
Jake Vold’s streak of placing in five consecutive rounds at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo has come to an end. Vold’s 79 on Bartender from Dakota Rodeo left him in eighth place on Tuesday in round six, two spots out of the money. A score however keeps him third in the aggregate only 3.5 points behind leader Bobby Mote.
Curtis Cassidy broke the barrier and knew it, once on the ground he had some trouble with his steer too leaving him with a time of 19 seconds. As the steer wrestling is tighter than any other event from top to bottom, Cassidy slipped to ninth in the world but stays ninth in the aggregate. Luke Branquinho still leads the world and also leads that aggregate.
2014 Canadian Champion Matt Shiozawa split the win in the tie down roping in round six with a 6.9. Shazam sits first in the aggregate and second in the world. 2010 Canadian Champion and two-time World Champion Tuf Cooper leads the world and sits second in the aggregate. 2013 Canadian Champion Timber Moore split third this evening to increase his Wrangler NFR earnings past $20,000.
Britany Diaz, 2014 Canadian Pro Rodeo Season Leader, won the barrel racing in round six with a 13.89 and Sage Kimzey is running away with the world title in the bull riding. Kimzey, a student of Gary Leffew has already won $79,381 in the first six r
ounds. Montana’s Beau Hill took third tonight moving his Wrangler NFR total past $35,000 including ground money.
* And congratulations to Kody Lamb - the first Canadian to win the PRCA Rookie of the Year title in the bareback riding since Dusty LaValley did so in 2004.
