2015 WRANGLER NATIONAL FINALS RODEO RESULTS - Round Six

Trevor BrazilleThe Beat Goes On For Brazille

It was a night that belonged to Trevor Brazile. The Texas superstar added to his amazing legacy with a brilliant 6.6 second run in the tie down roping to win the sixth round of the Wrangler NFR and clinch his thirteenth World All-Around title and twenty-fourth overall. Brazile, who will also go over the six million dollar mark in career earnings this week, has a chance to add still another title as he now sits second in the tie down roping, just $8,000 back of leader Tuf Cooper. But Brazile sits 4th in the average while Cooper is back in 15th spot having missed two calves this week.

Go round # 6 was not kind to the Canadian contingent at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.

None of the six Canadian contestants made it to the pay window. In the bareback riding, Manitoba cowboy Orin Larsen managed a 77.5, one half point more than Cadogan,  Alberta’s Clint Laye. Neither score was enough to make the top six on the night. Jake Brown of Hillsboro, Texas won his first round of his first Finals with an 85.5 point ride.

The Canadian bronc riders fared no better in the round. The older of the Larsen brothers, Tyrel, missed out the Kesler bucker, Nickels and Dimes, while Big Valley cowboy,  Zeke Thurston recorded a 70.5 which left him out of the money. Canadian champion, Cody Demoss, the Heflin, Louisiana bronc rider closed ground on Jacobs Crawley, the man who had taken the lead in the world standings away from him after the first five rounds. Demoss holds onto second spot in the world standings with his 4th place cheque in the round (79 points) but is 5th in the average while Crawley is second, right behind rookie sensation CoBurn Bradshaw who is the only man to ride all six broncs to date. The Beaver, Utah 20 year-old has taken over the lead in the saddle bronc rookie standings, having moved ahead of Thurston. Also in tonight's round, Big Stone Rodeo's Rubels carried Wade Sundell to a third place finish and to the lead in the average.

Bulldogger, Tanner Milan of Cochrane, finished up in the crying hole--7th place in the round with a 4.7 second run that left him just one spot out of the money. The good news for Milan is that he sits fifth in the average that pays like a Vegas slot machine. In the closest race at the Finals to date, less than $450.00 separate the top three men in the steer wrestling. Former champion, Hunter Cure ($157,745) sits atop the world standing with Clayton Hass ($157,642) and Ty Erickson ($157,318) right behind.

Okotoks barrel racer, Deb Guelly’s woes continued as she hit a barrel in go-round six and finished up with a 19.45 time including the penalty. Four time Canadian champion Lisa Lockhart placed again in the round to keep her perfect record of placings intact. The Oelrichs, South Dakota combination of Lockhart and her amazing buckskin, Louie, sit first in the average and first in the world, but can’t shake Brunswick, GA cowgirl Sarah Rose MacDonald, who sits second and is nipping at Lockhart’s heels.

And in the bull riding, the battle continues between reigning champion, Sage Kimsey who leads the world standings and former champion, Cody Teel who trails him by $54,000 but leads the average having ridden five out of six bulls and is not out of it.
