2015 WRANGLER NATIONAL FINALS RODEO RESULTS - Round Three

Clint LayeFrustration Nation

It was fitting on a night when three of four Canadian rough stock cowboys hit the ground early that it was a trio of north-of-the-border horses and a first time WNFR qualifier who carried the maple leaf high.

Clint Laye of Cadogan, Alberta was a sensational 84 on Three Hills Rodeo’s Mars to win second in the third round of 2015 #WranglerNFR. But it was Spilled Perfume that made the biggest noise as the Big Stone Rodeo bareback horse dispatched Manitoba’s Orin Larsen and in so doing earned ‘Rank Horse of the Night’ honours in the bareback riding. (Larsen was assisted from the arena after the ride.) And later in the round, the Calgary Stampede bucker, Twin Cherry, made short work of Jake Brown.

In rodeo’s classic event, the saddle bronc riding, both Canadian qualifiers Tyrel Larsen (Inglis, MB) and Big Valley, Alberta’s Zeke Thurston came down before the eight second horn. And as was the case in the bareback riding, it was a Canadian horse that came up solid as Outlaw Buckers’ Quittin Time carried ‘Wild West’ Wade Sundell to an 80 point score. Reigning Canadian Champion Cody DeMoss of Heflin, Louisiana took another step toward his first World title as he won the round with an 84 pt ride on Summit Pro Rodeo’s Big Fork.

In the steer wrestling, Tanner Milan struggled with a tough steer, but was able to twist him down in 6.7 seconds to remain in the average as he is three for three after Saturday night’s performance.

For six time WNFR qualifier Deb Guelly, a change of mount failed to change her luck. She and Scooter tipped the third barrel, resulting in a total time of 19.43 seconds.
