Q&A with - Steve Lloyd, Alix, AB
November 12 - First place winner in the tie-down roping.

CRN: How was today's 7.7-second run for first place different from yesterday?
Lloyd: I had a better dancing parnter tonight; I had a really good calf.
CRN: What can you tell us abut that calf?
Lloyd: Marty Becker (split fourth) on him in the round last night, so I knew he was a heck of chance. And he treated me a little better, actually. Marty had to unstack his legs once and he was eight flat, but he was great for me tonight.
CRN: What was your plan heading into the run?
Lloyd: I was just a little over halfway through the section, and it looked like the round was going to be a little easier than last night, so I just wanted to get a good start and get on it as quick as I could. I knew I had to put all my wraps on, because she tried the tie a little last night, and everything went as planned.
CRN: How does your roping horse, Dutch, get ready for a round at CFR?
Lloyd: I have a routine and stuff, but physical preparation is the biggest thing, getting limbered up, but the mental is also important. (Dutch) doesn't need much; he just needs a little bit of excercise. He knows the program. He gets pretty jazzed (when he hears the crowd) but it doesn't affect his performance.
CRN: How does this win affect you and Dutch going into tomorrow?
Lloyd: It's just keeps a guy up to pace with everyone else. Tomorrow's a new day and we get a new pen of calves. |
