Q&A with - Rylan Geiger, Bracken, SK
November 14 - Novice saddle bronc rider Rylan Geiger claimed his second consecutive
Canadian Championship at the 2009 Canadian Finals Rodeo.

Rylan Geiger won the fourth round at the Canadian Finals Rodeo with a 71.5-point ride
on Big Stone Rodeo Co.'s Buckle Up.
CRN: You had Franklin Rodeo's Scotch with a Twist tonight. How did that horse treat you, aside from a respectable second place in the round?
Geiger: I seen her the first night she was out and she was really nice then. Tonight, I thought she was pretty scattery for a while, throwing her head a lot, so I just sat back and spurred her best I could.
CRN: You already had championship in the bag after this afternoon's performance. How did that affect your approach to tonight's go-round?
Geiger: I try not to think about really, just go after the go-round money every time, go for first.
CRN: You won the novice saddle bronc championship last year as well. How do you feel about the back-to-back championships?
Geiger: It's pretty exciting. It's hard to hope for anything better.
CRN: You guys all received buckles this afternoon. Does that make driving back home with your brother, Kyreon, who placed second overall, a little easier?
Geiger: Yeah it does, and we all go home with a little something.
CRN: All kidding aside, what's it like having your brother around to compete against and go down the road with?
Geiger: I think it's great. We travelled together all year and we get along really good. We have a little competition between the two of us all the time. We compete against each other and try to help each other when we can, pick out flaws in each other's riding. As long as one of us comes home with a championship, we're happy. |
