Q&A with - Luke Creasy, Brownfield, AB
November 12 - First place winner in the bareback riding.

CRN: Your first time at CFR in the open bareback riding. Were you nervous?
Creasy: Yeah, I suppose I was. I couldn't focus on anything except riding the first day. But, when it comes down to it, you just think of it like another rodeo. A horse is a horse and a rodeo's a rodeo, and you know what you're doing because you've been doing it long enough, so you just go out there and do it. It's easier to say that, but if you tell it to yourself enough times, you might start to believe it.
CRN: Did you know your 84.5 on Big Country Rodeo's Whiskey Bent was a round-winning ride?
Creasy: I was just going to grab my rigging and go back to the locker room because I figured, being the third guy out, there was no way it would hold up, but they started hollering at me to get up there so I could be near the victory lap in case I won, and I did and I was surprised. It still hasn't hit me yet.
CRN: I saw your brother, Clay, helping you out behind the chutes once you warmed up. Do you guys help each other out a lot?
Creasy: He always helps me on, and I'm usually at his chute, but he usually doesn't have me do much except train the horse out or hold its head. He doesn't trust me to pull his saddle. The riggin's gone over the front end before so, I don't know, he doesn't think I'll pull the bronc saddle right or something (laughs).
CRN: Is there a lot of moral support, as well?
Creasy: I think we believe in each other more than we believe in ourselves. I think Clay can do it when maybe he has some doubts that I wouldn't have about him, and I maybe have some doubts about myself, but he wouldn't have those doubts about me, stuff like that.
CRN: You came into CFR in 10th place, and with a little more than $10,000 in the bank, but tonight you more than doubled your 2009 season earnings in one round. How's that make you feel?
Creasy: Really? Whoah, nice! |
